AI connector FAQ

A connector (OpenAI calls them apps or plugins, Google calls them Connected Apps) lets an AI assistant sign in to another app, like Gmail or Notion, so it can read or act on your data inside the chat. You approve access once and can disconnect anytime.

Of the 60 apps we track, Claude works with 57, ChatGPT works with 54, Gemini works with 19, Grok works with 19 (checked 2026-10-16).

It depends on the AI and your plan. Each guide lists the plan the official source says you need. Some connectors also need a paid account in the app itself, and work or school accounts often need an admin to allow them.

Connectors use the app's own sign-in (usually OAuth), so the AI never sees your password. Only approve the permissions you need, use official connectors from the AI's directory, and remove access you no longer use from the AI's settings.

We only mark a connection as working when an official page from the AI company or the app maker says so. If we can't find one, we say "not confirmed yet" instead of guessing. Grok's full catalog needs a login, so many Grok cells are still in this state.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that most connectors are built on. ChatGPT (developer mode), Claude and Grok can also add custom MCP servers, which is the usual workaround when an app has no listed connector.
